前Suzuki工程師Gary McLaren在泰國遭煙火炸身亡
新年才一開始MotoGP圍場就傳出了憾事，現任IRTA職員，過去在Suzuki車隊擔任11年數據截取工程師的Gary McLaren，跨年夜在泰國渡假勝地芭堤雅與女友和朋友們一同慶祝新年時，因施放煙火出了意外被炸，醫護人員雖然進行了急救但未能挽回傷者性命。
泰國警方表示，「午夜時分，McLaren先生試圖點燃大型煙火，但起初未能順利點燃施放。在那之後，它突然爆炸並當場將他炸死。」MotoGP官方與Suzuki車隊在聞訊後都發文表示震驚與悲傷。
